Vehicle refuses to start if the check engine light is not coming on and is not connecting to scanner that brought to scan it. What could have be the fault?

Hello,

If the check engine light isn't coming on when you turn the key to the on or run position and, you can't communicate with the scan tool. This means the engine computer isn't being powered up. Start with checking all the fuses in the engine compartment and under the dashboard. A number of things can cause this to happen but start with the basics. Checking for battery power at the ECM will be the next step and tracing back where the power loss is.
