Check coolant light

My caddy blew a headgasket I got another motor from my bro new thermostat hoses water pump the new motor goes one level over halfway on temp Gauge but goes right back down and never goes past that my coolant light stays on should I replace the reservoir coolant tank will that help

So your low coolant light is on and the coolant bottle is full?If so unplug the level sensor on the bottle and jump the terminals on the connector and see if the light turns off?If it does replace the bottle.

Wiil a bad coolant reserve tank cause the car to overheati

No not unless it's leaking coolant and causes a low enough coolant level.I thought it wasn't overheating that the low coolant light was just staying on?
