What type of transmission fluid and how many quarts?

I am wanting to do a drain and fill. What type of fluid and roughly how many quarts will I need?

Hi,

I have attached the specifications below. Note the service fill is with a new transmission filter installed. What I recommend is to add approximately four quarts, start the engine, shift through the gears, allow the engine to reach operating temperature, and then check the level and fill as needed.

Check the fluid level while car running? Hard to get any reading, but when it's off I am getting a reading using the universal stick which should show 40-50 at optimal temperature, but nothing while engine is running. It had been leaking so is it possible it needs more than 6 quarts? I drained about 2-3.

Hi,

Yes, the engine needs to be running and at operating temperature. I wouldn't think it would take that much, but if there is nothing showing on the stick when checking (running), it's low.

I attached the directions for testing right from the manual. Take a look through them and let me know if you have questions or if it helps.
