Engine swap?

I have a 2001 5.4 f150 2 wheel drive motor can I put it in a 1998 5.4 f150 4x4 ?

Hey there!

Thank you so much for posting on 2CarPros, so unfortunately I do not think you can put the newer engine into the older truck. From 1997-1998 they were the same but from 1999-2004 they made a bit more power. Typically when that happens there is subtle engine changes that make it extremely difficult or flat out impossible.
