I am hearing a bit of whining while turning, but this car has no power steering fluid I guess its electric, am thinking it's the front transfer case attached to the transmission, I want to change the fluid. How and what is the capacity and what type of fluid? Please

Hi,

When you hear the noise while turning, does it stop when you release the steering wheel? I ask because normally, a transfer case won't produce a whining noise. Low power steering fluid will. There should be a P/S fluid reservoir. See pic 6 below.

As far as the transfer case, I attached the directions below. Pic 5 shows the fluid type needed.

Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions.

Take care,

joe

I may have missed the power steering reservoir. I will check again, thanks. The noise goes away once the steering is straight yes.

Hi,

That sounds like the pump is low on fluid or starting to go bad. Let me know what you find. I'm interested in knowing.

Take care,

Joe
