Do I need to supply the system with voltage so as to not lose charge for the computers to hold their settings while I change battery and new connectors?

Hi,

No, that isn't needed. However, you will lose the time and the presets on the radio. Also, when you reconnect the cables, the engine may run a bit rough or even stall a couple of times until the system relearns its settings.

Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions.

Take care,
