Changing automatic transmission fluid

Once drained and can is off, how much to add as a start before letting it idle and reach operating temperature before checking again? I am going to use the engine dip stick and make marking on it for 5-15 when cold and 40-55 mm when warm.. just need an idea of how much fluid to purchase. thanks

Hello,

The drain and fill capacity is 5.5 quarts.
It is always a good idea to drain the old fluid in a container that you can measure, that way you will know exactly how much came out. As sometimes the drain a fill varies slightly, depending on temperature.

But the factory specification for just a drain a fill is 5.5 qt. (see table below)

The service fill on the 62TE is 5.5 quarts. so I would plan on adding 5 then run it up to temperature check it and top it off. I think you have the transmission temperature available on the driver display on that vehicle so you can use the temperature chart attached. For the dip stick you can use the engine one, just be sure you don't push it into the tube hard as it can bypass the bracket that is supposed to stop it and you get a bad reading. It should go into the transmission to about 424 mm from the mouth of the tube.
