I just changed my car battery like i had done many times before. Dash lights up, clock works, but when i try to crank the car there is one click and all lights go out and to repeat the battery has to be disconnected and reconnected.

Hi,

You have a weak connection. Recheck the battery terminals to make sure the terminals are not corroded and they are tight. I realize the battery is new, but check the cables.
Take a look through this link. It explains exactly what you described.

Let me know if that helps you or if you have other questions.

Take care and God Bless,
