Can you use a catalytic converter from a 3.8L impala on a 3.4L impala? And is it bolted on or welded?

I show the part number for the 3.8L is 10330020 and the 3.4L is 10343185.
Unfortunately they are different. This means it will not work. You may be able to get them to bolt up but I imagine the flow rate is different which means it may set a check engine light.
