Carburetor choke

I rebuilt the motor, bought and installed and up graded two bbl 1981 style carburetor with electric choke which it did not have before. How do I wire up the choke safely?

Good afternoon.

Some of them were wired with a voltage supplied by a wire from the fuse box to the choke. Make sure you pick a lug with power with the key on only.

Another way is to do this same procedure but use a ballast resistor in line. That would make the choke stay on a little longer. If it comes of too fast you will have hesitation until warmed up.

One last way is to take a tap off the starter wire on the alternator. That is a little lower voltage just as the ballast resistor.

Check and make sure it has voltage with the engine running.

It has been a while since I did one and the information system does not show it. Just make sure there is no voltage engine off and voltage with it running.
