I went to push to start and the engine would not turn on all of the lights and the dashboard came on but the brake pedal was really hard . After a few tries of sitting and trying to turn on it finally turned on . I was told I need a new starter and battery by AutoZone may this be the case ?

I understand that you said nothing happened but did you hear a clicking or a single click when this was happening?

If the battery is failing then we can test that with the following guide:

If the starter is failing then you will most likely hear a click when you push the button.

If this is not the case then I suspect we may have another issue with the key-less go system.

Let's start with testing the battery and finding out if there was a click and go from there. Thanks
