Car will not start

I was stuck in the snow, and I was giving it a lot of gas pretty much redlined it for less then a second and the car just cut out and shut off. The battery light comes on and the starter starter started smoking a little bit when I try to start it but it doesn't do anything, the lights come on but it wont crank.

Hi,

When the starter smoked, was the engine actually turning? Or, is there a click and then nothing happens?

If you had it at redline, something may have happened internally in the engine. Let me know if the engine turns at all so I know what to do next.

No, the engine wasn't turning when the starter started smoking. Yes, it just clicks and nothing happens.

What I need you to do is see if you can turn the engine by hand. Get a large breaker bar and socket, place it on the crankshaft pulley bolt and see if you can turn the engine by hand.

I attached a pic below showing you what bolt to place the socket on.

Let me know what you find.
