Hi, my car broke down and the tow truck driver put the machine on and said the alternator was bad because the machine went from 13-9 in a matter of seconds. He towed the vehicle and to parked it. He charged the battery for a min and started right up, and he parked it.
So, my fiancé buys an alternator and replaces it. The serpentine belt came off and we put it back on. I bought a battery charger and charged the battery. I go to start car and it cranks over but does not start.

Can you get a recording of what the vehicle sounds like when it is trying to start?

Basically, we need to start with what the mechanic felt was the issue.

We need to find out if the battery is charged and then we need to make sure the alternator is installed correctly. If the belt was thrown off after replacement, then more than likely it is not straight or not tight enough.

If the engine is cranking over slowly then this would make sense. However, if it is not then we need to move onto spark and fuel.

So, let's start with this info and we can go from there.

Thanks
