So, it started off that the water pump needed changed then the radiator replaced both put car back together it wouldn't start so had alternator tested I needed a new one so replaced alternator and battery. I've also replaced the spark plugs and checked fuses there good. Car cranks but sounds weak also there's a knock noise toward the end of cranking car will not start.

Hi,

Is it possible for you to record it cranking and upload it for me to hear? I would like to hear the knock you are referring to. Actually, don't crank it.

The timing chain had to be removed to replace the pump. Are you certain the timing was correct when you put it back together? I ask because this is an interference engine. If the timing is off far enough, the tops of the pistons can hit an open valve causing internal damage. The knock you mentioned could be an indicator of this issue. That is why I said don't crank it.

If you are not sure, follow the directions below to confirm the correct timing, and let me know what you find.

Again, if you suspect this could be the issue, do not crank the engine.

Take care,

Joe
