That is where I would start. From what I have read, that is one of the possible causes. As far as replacing the sensor, since the code indicates an issue, there must be a problem related to it.
The sensor is right below the starter motor. When you remove it take your time. If there is evidence of corrosion, spray it with something like PB Blaster or WD-40. Let it soak a bit and then gently turn it back and forth while removing it.
When you reinstall it, make sure where it is seated is clean. Otherwise, damage to the new o-ring will likely result and you'll have a leak. Make sure to coat the new o-ring with engine oil before reinstalling it.
