I woke up one morning to bring my mom to an car auction got like four blocks away then the car seems like it is slipping or the transmission went out. I shut the car off then back on, drives like normal for maybe another four blocks does the same thing. So I shut it off then back on it drives for maybe a minute or to then does it again. It has been like that since. Now when I start it and try to put it in gear the rpm's go up a little bit when I put it in park or neutral the rpm's go back down to where they were at like 800 to 1,200 rpm's and the only pedal I am touch is the brake pedal did not have any problems with it until then.

Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros.com.

First, has the check engine light come on? If it has, you should start with checking trouble codes. You will need a scanner to do it, but many parts stores will lend one to you. Here are is a video showing how to use one:

If there is no check engine light, you should check to make sure the transmission fluid is clean and full. The transmission dip stick is located in the front portion of the engine compartment and mounted on the transmission close to where the engine and transmission connect. Check the fluid with the engine at operating temperature, engine idling, and the transmission in park.

Do these two things and let me know what you find. If you have other questions, let me know.

Take care,
Joe

The check engine light was on when I bought it and I used an OBD scanner it said that the throttle position sensor was faulty or had a faulty throttle position sensor. I replaced it then I checked it with the scanner after replacing the sensor it said something about the brake pedal sensor this was on the weekend, but a couple days later I tried it again then it said something different something to do with revolution circuit failure. So I turned the car off then tried it again. Now it is saying that it has a faulty vehicle speed sensor. So this weekend I am going to try it again. I got the sensor just have not had the time to put it in yet. I am hoping and praying that is the problem or the only thing that I have to do. Does any of this sound like it would be the problem or sound familiar or something that could be the problem? I am not to sure with this scanner because it has told me three different things two that I did not even touch or replaced and said something different. Hopefully it is just that sensor is have to change but will find out after I change it. Thanks for the suggestion. I will let you know what happens after I change the sensor.

Wow. That is a tough one since you are not getting a concrete code. The throttle position sensor should not have had anything to do with the transmission. However, the speed sensor can. Do you remember if it was an input or output speed sensor?
