I was driving down the highway going 60 lost acceleration is completely. My foot was on the gas flooring it and wouldn't go past 5 mph. So I stopped trying it again still it started up, but I would not accelerate faster than 5 maybe 10 if I was going downhill. So I got up the highway and put it at a mall center and I tried looking at the things that I knew when I bought it was wrong with it. Which was the power steering had a leak and that's about it. Crankshaft position sensors I recently changed but I got the parts from you pull it. They were Indian condition except for the angle sensor in the back the terminal was pretty melted in kind of worn out and oily. So I didn't think anything about the time. So I plugged the sensor back in and put it back all together and set it up no miss it was misfiring, but it wouldn't stall I wouldn't shut off anymore and this slip some light wouldn't come on therefore I could drive in without its time. I thought it fixed up a problem but seems like I didn't. Four days later no acceleration. I changed three spark plugs but I couldn't get to the other three in the back because it's a shell of the head gasket I think. But yet took off the catalytic converter still no acceleration. I don't know what the problem is I can't really get a good answer. Some say it's multiple cylinder or sensors, but when I hook it up to the coder I got the code 340 and p 1800. I don't know what the 18001 is but the 340 was misfire and multiple since around function or something like that. What seems to be the problem actually? And there's knocking on the engine but it doesn't have an old time in the beginning.

Hi,

The P0340 is related to the camshaft position sensor. I'm suspecting it has something to do with the camshaft phaser. Here are the diagnostics. Take a look through them and let me know if you are comfortable doing it. The attached pics correlate with the directions.

Component Description
The camshaft position sensor (PHASE) senses the retraction with intake valve camshaft to identify a particular cylinder. The crankshaft position sensor (POS) senses the piston position. When the crankshaft position sensor (POS) system becomes inoperative, the camshaft position sensor (PHASE) provides various controls of engine parts instead, utilizing timing of cylinder identification signals. The sensor consists of a permanent magnet and Hall IC. When engine is running, the high and low parts of the teeth cause the gap with the sensor to change. The changing gap causes the magnetic field near the sensor to change. Due to the changing magnetic field, the voltage from the sensor changes.

DTC Confirmation Procedure

NOTE: If "DTC Confirmation Procedure" has been previously conducted, always turn ignition switch "OFF" and wait at least 10 seconds before conducting the next test.

TESTING CONDITION: Before performing the following procedure, confirm that battery voltage is more than 10.5 V with ignition switch "ON".

WITH CONSULT-II
1. Turn ignition switch "ON".

pic 3

2. Select "DATA MONITOR" mode with CONSULT-II.
3. Crank engine for at least 2 seconds and run it for at least 5 seconds at idle speed.
4. If 1st trip DTC is detected, go to "Diagnostic Procedure". If 1st trip DTC is not detected, go to next step.
5. Maintaining engine speed at more than 1,000 rpm for at least 5 seconds.
6. If 1st trip DTC is detected, go to "Diagnostic Procedure".

WITH GST
Follow the procedure "With CONSULT-II" above.

CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR (PHASE)
1. Loosen the fixing bolt of the sensor.
2. Disconnect camshaft position sensor (PHASE) harness connector.
3. Remove the sensor.
4. Visually check the sensor for chipping.

If it's possible, record the engine running so I can hear the noise you mentioned.
