Car will start but will not accelerate when I put it in drive or reverse

I was driving to work, car working with no problems, stopped at a red light, when light turned green I went to go and car would just rev. I put it in third, second, first, even reverse, and same thing, please help

Good morning.

Some basic checks.

1. Fluid condition and level.

2. Look for a leak from the transmission.

It sounds like something happened to the transmission.

Also, were there any other noises from the car prior to the failure?

Have the front axles checked. If one failed, the car will not move.
