Car drove fine yesterday. No indicator lights were on. This morning my car would not detect the key so I changed the key battery. After pressing start button with the fob the car went into run position but would not start. The trunk would not open either. I have a portable battery power pack so I hooked it up to charge the battery from under the hood (not directly on the battery) for about twenty minutes. After doing so the radio then came on but still would not start. It makes a clicking noise but that is it.

Welcome to 2CarPros.

A clicking sound usually indicates a weak battery. Although you had a jumper pack on it, there may still not have been enough power. Lets start simple. I want you to load test the battery. Here is a link that shows how to do it at home. Try this and let me know the results.

Now, if you hear one click and everything dies, make sure the battery terminals are clean and tight. Take a look at this link.

Start with these two things and let me know what you find. Also, describe the clicking you hear. Is it one click or many? Can you tell approximately where the sound comes from?

Take care,
Joe
