Car will not move in gear

Car will go into gear but will not move in reverse. in drive it will go a little bit then starts slipping.

Good morning.
Check the fluid level to be sure it is correct. Low fluid level will cause this issue.
If that is correct, it could have a clogged filter in the transmission. When was the last time you changed the fluid and filter?
Is the check engine light on? if it is, do you know the code set?

Could it be as simple as a filter because my fluid is correct level.

It is possible. Have the fluid and filter changed and see if it resolves your issue.
