I was driving and while stopped at a light the car turned off. I tried to start it and it would crank but not start. While trying when it cranks it cranks slower than usual. I towed it home and checked the codes and came up with code P0340 camshaft position sensor malfunction. I changed the CMP and it still shows the code and will not start. I have checked the wiring and all looks good. What could be the problem?

Good evening.

I would start by making sure the camshaft is actually turning when the engine is cranked. the sensor may have coded due to no signal.

also, check the compression, spark and see if the fuel pump is working.
