Engine overheated

So I was driving down the road and I was leaving my girlfriend house and while I was driving down the road I notice my car was on H, I pulled over and my friend came to put some coolant In the system, however we pulled off and it still was on H. So we left it stayed in the yard and I’m now staying at her house. What shall I do? Will it be fine in the morning or what?

Good morning,

it overheated for a reason and the reason must be found. Repairs need to be made before anyone can it is okay to drive.

Check the coolant level. It could be many reasons why it overheated.
