I am assuming my issue is a weak or bad battery but want to confirm.

Weather has been super cold in the north east and took 3 tries for car to start. It finally did.

I don't drive often or far when I do (less than 8 miles).

If the battery is bad, why does the car eventually start?
Is it the cold? Will my battery be ok when it warms up or do you suggest replacing?

What impact does not driving far have on my batter?

The way you determine that is you have the battery tested. Cold weather will further weaken an already weak battery.

does letting my car sit 2-3 days and not starting it impact the battery?
will I have issues when the weather warms up or just during the cold?

As already stated............ you need to have the battery tested.
