Was driving my car, came to a stop, put it in park and then in drive again and car would not move. Stomped on the gas switched into park, reverse and park again and eventually turned car off and back on then car slowly crept into gear. But barely picked up speed, got to about 35 and when slowed to a stop it would hesitate to move again when pressing the gas. Finally made it home and hooked up reader and codes P0008/ P0016/P0017/P0018. So, I changed out the crankshaft position sensor and the car then wouldn’t even start, all codes went away except for now it read a connection code, so I replaced the crankshaft position sensor connector, and it still won’t start. Took new sensor out and replaced with old sensor and car started to crank over but is now throwing a different code. I thought for sure it was the shift solenoids A and B but no code comes up for that. But that is almost exactly how the car is behaving. I am at a total loss.

So these codes come up when the timing chains and camshaft actuators need to be replaced.

P0008: Engine Position System Performance Bank 1
P0016: Crankshaft Position - Intake Camshaft Position Correlation Bank 1
P0017: Crankshaft Position - Exhaust Camshaft Position Correlation Bank 1
P0018: Crankshaft Position - Intake Camshaft Position Correlation Bank 2

The engine will not start with a new crankshaft sensor because you need to do a relearn, I don't think the crankshaft sensor will fix it anyway, can I ask how many miles the car has?

I had a thought that the engine oil may need to be changed, has that been done lately? Can I ask how many miles the car has? Check out the images (below). Please check the condition of the engine oil.

Hey Ken,

The 2007 cadi SRX has 160,000 miles on it- I actually just did a full tune up about two weeks ago! Oil and oil filter change/ transmission fluid change/ spark plugs- I also changed all four camshaft sensors and two vvt sensors and the crankshaft sensor and had it relearned. The car ran great for about two miles then went right back to doing the exact same thing. It idles great, sounds great, just does not want to move once I put it in Drive or reverse.

Yep, it sounds like the car is in limp mode, I would try clearing the codes which should make it drive for a short time, this can help confirm the mechanical failure.
