Car stalls/sputters on acceleration

My car starts and idles fine but when put into gear and gas pedal is pressed it sputters and stalls. It always starts back up. My key will not turn counterclockwise past the ACC position.

The key not turning back to the lock position could mean a fault with the cylinder tumblers. There are many possibilities for engine stalling when taking off and if the check engine light is indicating, you would need to perform a diagnostic scan to check for trouble codes.
If no trouble codes are present, have the fuel pressure tested. Fuel supply or pressure could be low causing the problem.
