car stalls and dies when I hit the gas

Hello. I own a 1982 Honda civic, 1170cc and I have the following problem.The car stalls and eventually dies when I hit the gas. I have already changed the fuel filter, the vacuum assembly of the distributor and cleaned the carburetor. Still the car starts fine, works on idle but when I step on the gas rpm increases for a minute, gradually lowers and the engine stops. Please help!

Have you checked for engine vacuum leaks? Have you checked ignition timing? Have you checked fuel pressure? How many miles are on the engine?
