I was driving on the highway when my car suddenly shut off. When I tried to restart it, I only heard clicking and no dash lights came on. When I pressed the brake pedal after about 20 tries, the lights came on & the car finally started. Ive been trying to research the issue myself but there are so many possibilities. Can you please suggest what the problem may be? I read about the radiator temp fan thing but it wasnt really hot outside & I hadnt been driving the car for very long.
Thank you!

I have to be honest, this sounds like a simple fix. Based on what you described, there seems to be a disruption in the electrical system. The first thing to do is check to make sure the battery terminals are clean and tight. Also, check the ground from the battery to the engine block. Something tells me the problem lies there.

Let me know what you find.

I have a 96 toyota corolla that has got a skip to it. I replaced the plugs and throddle positition sensor. The car runs fine when you first start it and when it warms up it starts skippin. As you are driving the car jumps at first and then levels out thru all the gears. Also at 55 the car runs fine and then skips and fine then skips. When ever you stop at a stop sign the car dies. I dont know what the problem can be please help.

Make sure plug wires are good. Check fuel pump pressure. Check to make sure the fuel filter is clean and not plugging. If the check engine light has come on, have the computer scanned to identify where the problem is coming from.

Good morning,

When it cranks, does it try to start?

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/engine-stalls

Does the tachometer move up a little while cranking?

How long since you had the timing belt checked to be sure the engine is in time?

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-a-timing-belt-works

Is the check engine light on? Were you able to retrieve any codes?

If it is cranking, it has power.

Those checks need to be done.
