Car will start but it shuts off right away, will not stay running

if i keep my foot on the gas it will stay running but when i take my foot off the gas it shuts off. someone told me its the IAC value could that be true?

it could be lots of things. Sounds like the ideal speed control sensor. Take it to the parts store and have that codes check. You can start here.

yes that's only a shot in the dark. You need to have the code read.

Thank you very much. after talking to you i also Googled it and it told me how to test the part you told me about. and i found that it was stuck open. pick the part up for $200.00 and put it on myself. now my car runs fine. once again thank you!
