Welcome to 2CarPros.

Where is it rubbing? It it hitting under the vehicle? You indicated there is about 3 inches between the tire and strut. Are you sure the coil on the strut isn't broken or where it mounts at the top (under the hood) see picture 2, nothing is damaged or even rusted and broken?

Picture 1 shows the strut assembly. I highlighted the coil and the upper mount. Picture 2 shows under the hood where the top of the strut bolts.

Check these two things and let me know what you find. Also, if you can upload a picture of the front end so I can see how low it is sitting, it will help.

Take care,
Joe
