My car hit a dip in the road and the axle broke. The driver's side wheel bearings were replaced 3 months ago, and the car was also inspected. There were no symptoms of any axle issue. The car now rolls in park. Could the axle breaking have been from a bad wheel bearing replacement job? Also does the car rolling back in park mean I'll need a new transmission?

Hi,

The transmission will be fine. The reason it is rolling in park is because of the broken axle.

If you look below, I attached the directions specific to this vehicle for replacing the axle. Take a look through them and let me know if you are comfortable performing them or if you have questions.

Also, here is a link you may find helpful as well:

Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions.

Take care,
