The engine revs when transmission is attempting to shift from second to third gears never changes?

I have had the car for about 4 weeks now. 4 days ago, after the weather changed and the temperature dropped, she started revving when switching from 2nd to 3rd while in drive.

I changed her oil filter and oil Nov 9th right before temperature change and her transmission filter and fluid Nov 14th right after she started acting up (never had been done before).

The car listed above was bought from a friend who had no idea what he was doing with her.

The first thing to check would be to make sure the transmission filter did not fall off and into the pan, also does it have any check engine lights on? We should run the codes anyway, here is a guide to help you. Be sure to recheck the fluid level. You could have an input shaft speed sensor that is going out.

This guide can help as well:

Here is the location of the sensor in case you need it. Check out the images (below). Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.

Hey Ken, thank you so much for your response!

I actually got under her on the 14th and changed her transmission filter and fluid (it had never been done factory filter and the dip bobber was in pan) so I know the pan is secure and in place.

I went to check for codes, and she has 0 noted on the reader. There have been no check engine lights on. I will check on the input speed censor and update.
