When I am driving I cannot drive over ten miles per hour and my rpm are staying at 1000.

Hello,
OK, if you are pressing on the gas pedal and nothing is happening then the first thing I would check for is a broken throttle cable.
Also, if engine light is on would be helpful if you could have them read and post here.
