Air idle control valve location

I am having problems with my truck, 2004 Ford Explorer, Eddie Bauer Edition, 4.6 liter engine V8, check engine light is on and it idles up very high at times, causing it to jerk off very fast and my air will not get cold unless you are on the gas. I took my truck to Autozone and they said the IAC is not even on the truck but the diagnostic is reading IAC, could you please show me where it is located?

I am having the hardest time locating my Idle air control valve. The pictures I've seen doesn't match what i see on my motor. Can anyone help? As of right now my truck will not continue running.

How much shoud it cost to repair an Idle Air control vavle? The repair shop I have used for the last 20 years was just sold and I had the job done for $295. It included $90 diagnostic, $45 labor and $129 parts.

I am experiencing a humming or rumbling noise from my explorer when I am decellereting to idle. The noise happens at low rpm's and only when decreasin g. It sounds like it is coming from the air intake just before it enters the ebgine.

Sir, great site! I have an '01 Ford Explorer Sport with 101K on it. All plugs, wires, filters, fluids flushed, etc. Everything is done. Recently was told engine air idle control valve was bad. Idled at 650 rpm's and unsteady. Never bothered me but thought I'd go ahead and replace the valve. After doing this I cleaned the MAF sensor with correct cleaner and started it. Worked fine for a few hours, idle at 900rpm's smooth. Then check engine light came on, engine rpm's go to 1500 when cold and stay there pretty much anytime it's in neutral. Ran the codes and said O2 sensors bad. Reset codes and now no codes, but rpm's are internitent from sometimes perfect to other times 1500 even when warm. Thanks.

My Mom's Ford Explore has a check engine light. Went to Autozone to get the code. I did some research about the IAC valve. Do you know the location of the valve so that it can be cleaned?

This happens every morning, worst when its cold, start the car it dies almost instantly, start the car again must keep car revs high or it will die. Get the car of the drive and lift foot of accelerator to brake the car will die (not good power steering doesn't work). Start car again after car has warmed up 3 Min's the car is perfect, could this be that the idle control valve is not working my friend a mechanic thinks this could be the prob but his computer is not a ford computer so it cannot find the problem and forking out  80+( yes pounds not $ UK car) for a new idle valve for a hunch is not my thing

Yes the car idles perfect when the car is warm its just first thing in the morning, have change the water temperature sensor and that has made the car run better but has not stop the problem in the mornings.

The sensor was towards the top of the engine in the middle under the plastic housing the computor said that the water temp was 80deg when the car had only run for 30 seconds. The other question about the car starting if the weather is warm I cannot answer yet. I am shaw that it was the coolent temp sensor.
