Car overheating?

Car overheated and pulled over to some smoke coming out hood, a man said to flush the radiator and coolant with a water hose.

There can be many reasons the engine has overheated, with the engine cold, check the coolant level because you may have a leak. Also, when the engine was overheating did you hear the radiator fan come on? If the overheating was kind of quick like 10 minutes of running you can have a stuck thermostat, can you please give me more information so I can help? Go over this guide as well to help:
