After turning off the car something was still running

If the cooling fans are off but you are hearing the noise, it could be due to the secondary air injection pump staying on. You will have to remove the air cleaner housing in order to access the air pump.

I have attached diagrams below. Locate the part and see if that is what is making the noise.

Is it loud enough for you to record and upload for me to hear? Since you noticed it on the passenger side, could it have been the blower motor for the A/C and heater?

Here is what I would suggest: Since this is a draw on the battery with everything off, that means a circuit is providing power when it shouldn't. Where I need you to start is under the hood in the power distribution box (fuse box).

Remove one fuse at a time until the sound stops. Identify the fuse and using the back side of the panel cover, see what circuit that fuse is for.

Do this and let me know what you find. Also, if it is loud enough, record it and upload it for me to hear.

Here is the noise on video. I haven't had a chance to get the symptoms to repeat but will try again in the morning!

My thought was that it may be the relay for the secondary air injection pump may be stuck on.

It is possible for this to stay on due to a faulty relay.
The air pump is controlled by a solid-state module that contains relays for the pump as well as horn, engine control relay and traction control relay.

When i bought the car (20,000 miles), it had an intermittent non-start problem that was resolved by taking out the rcm and re-soldering some cold solder joints, defective from the factory. With the info I had at the time, I was told to clean the contacts on the relay that controlled the BAS/ESP warnings that also appeared intermittently and quickly disappeared, ever since owning the car. I understand this is a warning light indicating an issue with the secondary air injection system. I wonder if this same relay could now need replaced.

I now have a code set because the BAS/ESP light is on constantly now. My Actron code checker states "no codes" (for some reason) yet erasing the codes with the Actron seems to shut the light off, but only momentarily. I wonder if there is a built-in way to get the car to indicate the code to me without using the Actron. At this point, it may benefit me to simply remove the rcm and re-inspect that relay, if I can remember which one it was. Possibly I should replace the relay regardless? I think the pump itself is working, just not being controlled properly. Your opinion here is greatly appreciated!

If you look below, there are directions for getting codes from the vehicle without a scanner, but normally it is for older vehicles. Try it. I've seen it work with newer models.

If that doesn't work, you really should consider scanning the can bus. CAN stands for controller area network. Many of the computers/modules are tied together via a few wires. This type of scan will retrieve codes regardless of the module storing them. It does require a scan tool that can read can-bus codes. Here is a link that explains how it's done:

I did replace the Secondary Air Pump relay a couple of weeks ago. This did appear to stop my issue with the pump still running after the car was shut off. Keeping my fingers crossed that this issue has been resolved! I appreciate you!
