Car not wanting to start

I have had it pulled apart ready for a roadworthy and had the oil seals on the pistons fixed. I have now just recently put it back together and it will not start.

The spark plugs are sparking and petrol is on them. The car feels like it wants to start but cannot get going. Its turning over and everything, it just can't get going.

The engine light is also on, but I am not sure if that has anything to do with it or not.

Get it scanned for the codes that are turning the light on. It could be just about anything preventing it from starting. It sounds like you have spark, is it in proper time?

From what we can tell it has proper timing. the marks seem to match up.
We seem to also have spark.

See if it has a clear flood mode, basically hold the throttle right to the floor, On many this actually shuts off the injectors while cranking.

Another item to check would be if it has a fuel pressure regulator that is vacuum controlled. If the diaphragm inside ruptures they will dump a lot of fuel into the engine.

You mentioned you had it torn down. If the injectors sat out a while they may have dried out and one or more could be stuck open. That would also pour a lot of fuel into the engine rapidly.

One thing to be aware of, this vehicle was never sold in the U.S. so we have limited access to specific information. (I have a manual but it's in Japanese !!)
However these issues are common to just about every vehicle out there, regardless of who built it..
