Had a p0301 code, replaced all coil packs, also replaced all plugs and gapped per repair spec manual. Replaced battery and replaced starter approximately 8 months ago. My wife left my house and drove approximately five miles to Walmart. Came out and car would not turn over. I had it towed to my house. When I got home from work. Car started right up no issue. Then the same situation happened next day. Today I did a valve lash readjustment today. All valves were too tight. I also checked the starter cut relay and ohmed out the ignition switch. Did not find any issues with those switches. Also tested trans selector switch. No issues found there. So I cleared code after valve adjustment. And could not get car to not turn over again. Started right up, drove about 20 miles, shut car down. And car started right up. My question. Can the p0301 code cause car to not turn over after code pops. Not Sure where to look next. Again could not get a code to pop or get car to not turn over after clearing code and valve adjustment.

This code is not going to cause the engine to not turn over so that means we are going to have to start with checking voltage at the starter and find out if we are getting voltage out of the relay.

If we are not getting voltage from the relay, then let's remove the relay and jump power to pin 1 so that we can see if the starter works.

If it does, then we need to check the voltage on pin 4 which is fed from the ignition switch.

Then we need to check the ground on pin 3 to see if the control side of the relay is operating. I understand you checked the switch, but this will confirm this is not the issue.

However, once we know what the voltage is on each of these, we will have a better idea what direction to go.

Please run through this and let me know what you find.

Thanks

Okay, great. I will be sure to check these points as soon as the car does not start again. My wife has driven it to work and back with multiple start and stops. When the opportunity arises, and the car will not start again, I will definitely check and report back. Thanks a lot.
