My car was driving just fine. No problems that I noticed. I was stopped at intersection. I went to press the gas to go, and my car wouldn’t move. I heard a loud pop as this was happening. I was able to push my car into a parking spot with the help of a police officer. The car did move in neutral. But, once I put the car in park, there was an awful grinding noise. The engine was running the whole time. My car is still not driving, and I’m unsure of what’s wrong with it. Unfortunately, I’d rather figure out what’s wrong with it before I take it to a shop, so I can estimate how much I’ll be paying to get it fixed. Any ideas on what could possibly be happening? Thanks!

When you pressed on the accelerator do the RPMs go up like you are in neutral? The grinding when put in park is concerning because I am thinking there is an issue with the input shaft spinning but not engaging any gears. This means we have an internal issue failure. Here is a guide that will help with this:

I would suggest starting with checking the transmission fluid and make sure it is clean and full and that will give us a better idea as to what the issue could be. The info from the manual is below that shows this.

Lastly we need to check for codes. Here is a guide for this as well. If there are no codes then I am hoping we find something with the fluid or we are going to have to get more intrusive.
