My car listed above is an SXT 2.4 Liter.
Delay between putting shifter in gear position but there is a delay of up to 2 to 3 minutes before it engages and you can drive.
I position gear shift lever into desired gear and I have to wait up to two minutes for transmission to engage and it to drive. This happens in all gears.
Engine runs good and strong. No misfire or skipping evident.
I changed transmission control solenoid pack on front of transmission.
The mechanic did not use Mopar brand . He used Borg Warner brand.
When car does engage it goes for about quarter mile and stops driving. I then have to wait another few minutes for car to engage.

From the description it sounds like the internal seals in the transmission or the front pump has worn out. More than likely the transmission will need to be rebuilt or replaced. Check the basics first though. is the fluid full and clean? If yes then using a pressure test kit you could check the output from the pump, but the description sounds like wear.
