I just bought this car two weeks ago and it has developed a miss in it. I am asking about this because it is unlike any other in a vehicle I have owned. If you give it gas from the bottom of the pedal it spits and sputters between 30 and 60 miles per hour but if you push from the top of the pedal it is generally pretty smooth only misses a couple of times. I'm really at a loss for what this could be.

Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros.

The first thing you need to do is check the computer for diagnostic trouble codes. That will indicate which cylinders are misfiring and if there are any other problems we need to know about.

Here is a quick video which shows how to use a scanner:

Now I realize most people don't own a scanner. If that is the case, most parts stores will scan it for free. Once you do that, let me know what codes are found.

Also, here is a link that discusses misfire conditions and how to check and repair many of them.

Let me know what you find or if you have other questions.

Take care,
Joe
