Check engine light recently came on and whurring noise started happening. Noise happens when idling and running, sounds like the fan is pushing itself too hard or the engine is. Any suggestions?

If you have a fan clutch, it could be binding causing it to run all the time. That will make excessive noise. You can identify that by trying to turn the blade by hand, (engine off hopefully!). Do you know how to read the diagnostic fault codes?
