Car loses power after a 1/2 hour to 45 minutes of driving?

All is well until it has been driven a bit. The first sign of trouble is the fasten seat belt light comes on, then every light on the dash lights up. Soon the speedometer and tachometer drop to zero, the car slows, but then will resume running. Nice this happens, the failure sequence is more frequent.

I have put a new battery in the car, but the problem has not solved; is this an ECM issue?

Hi,

That is an interesting one. It does sound like a module issue, but by the same token, it doesn't.

Here is where I would start: We need to scan the can-bus. CAN stands for controller area network.

Basically, the different modules are tied together via a few wires. This type of scan will retrieve codes regardless of the module storing them. A traditional scan tool will likely only retrieve basic powertrain codes only.

I am recommending this because without a direction, this will become an expensive guessing game. Hopefully, this will point us in the right direction.
