Car lock up

I was turning right to get into a store parking lot when all of a sudden my car stops (with my foot on the gas) and my steering wheel locks (i cant turn it eft or rightat all it wont budge) The engine shuts off for what feels like a second and then the music begins to play again. I put my car on park and turn the car off bu taking the key out. I try to turn it on and it sounds like it was having a hard time I wait a little bit more and then give it a go one more time. It turns on but I have almost every light on my panel on (slid, checkengine, airbag, seatbelt, ect) I then go home immidetly before it happens again. The next day the car drives fine and withen the next 2 days the panel lights all go off. 3weeks later I was waiting at a stop light and when it turned green I went to press the gas and as I was taking off the entire car "locked up again"
