I'm trying to get my towncar to a battery store for a diagnostic check because my battery dies in a few days after it's been charged.(Car won't start). The engine sounds and runs very rough. I added some transmission fluid where you put oil while it was running, that worked in the past for it sat before. No luck. The oil light is on as well as the battery light on the cluster. I got it to a gas station and filled it w/91 and added a no knock additive to the tank. Still sounds unhappy. What should I do?

The first thing that needs done is to check to make sure the battery is good and the terminals are clean and tight. Remove the battery, fully charge it and take it to a parts store to have it load tested.

Next, since the battery light is on, even thought the battery may die, it still may be good. The problem could be the alternator. Once we determine the battery is good, then we need to check that.

Finally, the fact that the check engine light is on tells me there is a trouble code stored in the computer. The computer will need scanned to determine why the light is on. Chances are there is a sensor issue or other minor problem that is causing the engine to run poorly.

Start with the battery and let me know what you find.
