I am trying to determine why my car won't start. The condition happened all of the sudden. I thought that it was a result of lack of use and that the battery was dead. I got the battery charged but I still can not get it to start. Not only does it not start, but it make "no sounds." when I turn the key in an attempt to start the car.

The lights work, so does the radio and other electrical items.

I figure that it might be the alternator or the voltage regulator but I have not know them to go out without prior issues.

Please share you opinions as to the problem and possible solutions.

Thanks,

Probably none of the above. Either the cables are dirty, or not attachech securely, or the solenoid next to the battey is no good. Follow the positive cable, it takes you right to it. Take a picture so you reconnect it properly, then remove the negative cable first, and put it back on last!
