Hi,
First, this vehicle isn't offered in the US, so my technical information is limited. The idea that it goes into limp mode could be something related to a different component than the engine. Is your scanner able to read things such as transmission codes or traction control codes?
Next, you indicated that it takes two or three attempts to start the engine after this happens. The next thing that pops into my mind is it could be related to a crankshaft position sensor. This sensor, when going bad, can fail when the engine is at operating temp. Take a look through these links and let me know if the symptoms seem to mirror what you experience:

Let me know if that matches what is experienced.
