Transmission electronically stuck on drive, will not start?

Went to Wawa to pump gas and I put car the in park and took the keys off
Came back after Wawa and pumping the fuel and car looks like it says it’s on ( DRIVE ) but the shifter is on park . So it won’t start.

Hi,

The shifter is in park. If you disengage the parking brake, does the car move as if it is in neutral? If it does, the linkage between the shifter and transmission may have failed.

When you shift through the gears, does it feel normal, or does it seem like there is less resistance?
