Car door not closing

So I tried closing my car door but it bounced open. I thought the latch was not in its right position (orientation). But the latch either open or close, will not close. It will bounce open either way. I reset the latch to it original state but will not close. Not sure what to do at this point.

Can you manually close the latch to see if it locks?

check that the door hinge has not dropped and the latch is out of alignment, also make sure that the slam plate on the pillar has not moved.
