It seems like it turns off on itself. I have to push in the clutch and turn the key. It’s starts afterwards. When the car is idling in neutral it shuts off again sometimes. This has been going on for four days now. Is it the fuel pump or filter? I would like to know before i work on it myself. Thank you for listening.

Hi,

Has the check engine light turned on when the engine is running? If it has, first have the computer scanned for diagnostic trouble codes. Here is a video that shows how it's done:

I realize most people don't own a scanner, but most parts stores will do it at no charge. So, that really needs done.

Next, does it start right back up all the time? Does it only happen when the engine is at operating temp? A common cause of stalling can be related to a faulty crankshaft position sensor. Interestingly, this sensor may or may not turn on the check engine light.

Here is a link that explains the most common symptoms of a failing crank sensor. Take a look through it and let me know if it mirrors what you experience.

Let me know. Also, let me know if there is anything you can think of that seems related or causing it to stall.

Take care,
Joe
