Hi,
That is an odd one. In most cases, a crank with no start is the result of either loss of fuel or ignition spark. I'm not sure why hitting the brakes would affect either, but anything is possible.
I guess we can't check for either until we get it to crank again. I realize the battery shows 12v. Do me a favor. Connect your voltmeter to the battery so that you see 12v. Have a helper try to engage the starter. Does the voltage change?
Let me know what you find. Also, do me a favor and check the 7.5 amp, start 1 fuse in the interior fuse box. In addition to checking the fuse, confirm there is power to it. See pic below.
